Edgar Allan Poe
la ambigüedad de la muerte

A pleasant and relaxing itinerary amid considerations and analyses of notes taken. Sailing up the magnificent Hudson River surrounded by a chain of picturesque mountains that seemed to form a circle, reaching the riverbanks along which draft animals pulled wagons along roads opened to give life to lucrative trade and unpleasant exertions. Slaves in truth, who worked as carters and porters for a few cents. It was very easy to make them out, even from afar, since their bodies and faces shone, their dark skin moist with inhuman sweat.

I also saw towns in a halo of torrid heat and vaporous mist. Along the Hudson River there were also scattered houses and villages at regular intervals.

BOOK INFORMATION

This book is a journey into the life of Edgar Allan Poe, of a man wounded by a deep malaise, by alcohol and drugs, even by an irascible aggressiveness that becomes self-destructive and can lead to death. To understand Poe it was therefore necessary to go to the root of his writing, and to investigate this writing as an essential moment of a life. We thus retrace the painful and dark pages of a disturbing writing, through the characters that marked his life, through the established friendships and enmities that contributed to his frustrations and delirious restlessness.

WHAT WILL YOU FIND IN THE BOOK?

Giuseppe Cafiero sets out to trace, in this book and through a penetrating imagination, a psychological construction of Edgar Allan Poe through the different characters in his works by creating 16 short stories and a prologue that recount Poe's life. Each of the tales is constructed through surreal events and the presence of particular characters, so that each story can outline from life a particular year in the life of Edgar Allan Poe. A memory necessary to fully understand what it was about Poe's life, marked by abuse and strangeness, that enabled this incredible writer to sketch a will conquered by the inescapable pleasure of writing.
