As a pediatric ophthalmologist with years of experience, I have had the privilege of accompanying thousands of

Why vision is crucial in child development

Vision is not simply one of the Øve senses; it is the main window through which children discover and understand the

world. Approximately 80% of learning during the Ørst 12 years of life occurs through vision. From recognizing their

parents' faces to learning to read, from coordinating movements to developing social skills, vision plays a fundamental

role in virtually all aspects of child development.

An undetected or untreated visual problem can have consequences that go far beyond simply "not seeing well." It can

affect academic performance, physical coordination, self-esteem, and even the child's social behavior. Most

concerning is that many children with visual problems don't complain, simply because they don't know they could see

better.
